Reinvent Yourself

Reinventing yourself becomes necessary when you feel stagnant or frustrated by the direction of one or more aspects of your life. Although it may seem like a complex process, in my opinion, it is not really, since entering it in a structured and conscious way helps make the path much easier.

If at this moment you feel that you need a change in your life and you do not know where to start, read on.

What possibilities do reinventing ourselves present?

It allows us to redirect our life towards the future that we want. Without having to erase the past, it allows us to live a new life within our own and know new ways of being here and relating to others.

Life is full of decisions and, it is likely, that at some point or another, we have made a mistake, but we have not rectified in time.

However, our whole life should not depend on a mistake, a bad choice. We can rectify, start from scratch, and “clean the slate.” Doing it will only rely on ourselves and our will to achieve what we want.

I want to help you to redirect your life, to be once again the captain of your ship that, perhaps, is currently drifting aimlessly.

Put yourself in command again, feel again the happiness of driving and the breeze brushing your skin. Moreover, to feel all these emotions again, you have to be the master of your destiny again.

What does it mean to reinvent yourself?

Perhaps the concept of “reinventing yourself” sounds a bit funny when you hear it first.

What does it mean? That we have to leave everything we have built? Start from scratch? No. It means whatever you want it to mean. It may simply be that a part of your life has to change.

Perhaps you find yourself immersed in a job that does not satisfy you or in a relationship that no longer works. Conformity is the worst enemy of happiness because it makes us live without passion, go through the days as if nothing, automatically.

For this reason, when I talk about reinventing yourself, I mean changing that part of you or your life that no longer satisfies you.

And yes, if you do not feel comfortable with anything in your life, you can start “from scratch.” But mind you, I put quotation marks around the word “from zero” because we can never start from that starting point.

We have accumulated experiences, relationships, feelings, and fears during our life, something that will always accompany us on our way, to a greater or lesser extent.

However, we have to keep one thing in mind…

Reinventing yourself does not mean changing completely, since this is complicated, but it means modifying the behaviors that we follow throughout our lives.

Above all, for this to be done, we have to have an open mind, be willing to learn new ways of living and try new activities that go out of our way of comfort. Only then can we really make this long-awaited change and live many lives within it.

Connect with new people with interests similar to yours

Expanding your social circle and meeting people with similar concerns to yours opens your mind to what you cannot imagine and more.

It helps you feel understood, as well as inspiring and motivating you.

During the beginning of my reinvention process, I attended (and even organized) many meetings with people with whom I shared many of my values.

Doing so helped me grow and ask myself questions that, had it not been for this, would have taken much longer to find out and define what my ideal lifestyle is.

Block negative emotions

If you want to start a new life, you have to stop being your worst enemy. Any change implies a risk but also a unique opportunity to be happy.

Therefore, try to filter the negative thoughts and focus on the positive ones to carry out this project satisfactorily; otherwise, the most likely thing to happen is that you end up quitting and return to where you started.

Know who you are today

A prevalent mistake is not being attentive to the evolution that occurs within us. Of course, we are not the same people as when we were 15 years old, but we are not the same as five years ago.

Indeed, our interests have changed, and we always have to be attentive to these changes to know who we are today and what we want from life.

New interests can make us change our perspective and want to discover other ways of living, and I want to remind you that it is never too late to live.

So listen to yourself, analyse your “I” in the present, and, thus, you will know how you want to reinvent yourself.

Get out of your comfort zone

I know it sounds cliché, but daring to have new experiences and explore unfamiliar terrain is an excellent opportunity to know yourself and realize what resonates with you and what doesn’t.

If you want to achieve different results, it is clear that you cannot continue doing the same as always.

Something in your day to day and in yourself must change. The question is to analyse the actions you need to carry out to achieve the objectives you want.

At first, it is challenging, and it can cost you; I will not deny it, but once you start to notice the benefits it brings you, there is no going back.

And even if you discover that it is not for you, it would not be a catastrophe either because, at the very least, you will have freed yourself from the weight of doubt, and you will know yourself better.

Always remember that, whatever you do in your life, you have every right to rectify, my dear.

Open your mind

In order to reinvent ourselves, it is essential that we let creativity fly, that we open our minds and get ready to learn new things, to think differently, in short, to get out of our comfort zone.

In this way, we will get to know new ways of living, and we can decide what we want ours to be now, the one that is most coherent to us and our interests.
One thing is clear: if you don’t know, you don’t evolve. And to know, we have to do a previous work of mental openness that will help us to live differently.

Look inside

Another key that I consider fundamental to reinventing oneself is to deepen self-knowledge.

Only by looking inward and discovering who you are can you know what it is you want in your life. This seems essential to me to find out where you want to go (objectives and goals) and the path (actions) you are going to follow to get there.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself to start listening to yourself and taking the first step:

What are the three or four most important values for you?

What activities of your day-to-day bring you closer, and which ones take you away from those values?

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? What would your ideal lifestyle look like? Who are you with? What do you do for a living? Where do you live?

What did you dream of as a child? What did you like to do the most?

What would you be doing right now if you were totally honest with yourself? Would you do the same as you do now? If not, what is preventing you from dedicating yourself to what you like the most?

What actions can you incorporate into your day-to-day today to feel better and increase your self-esteem?

Read people who have already achieved what you want to achieve

We are very fortunate to be able to access tons of information in a matter of seconds.

Internet is an excellent advantage for you since it will allow you to quickly find blogs and web pages that deal with the topics that are important to you right now.

In any case, reading to people who have already achieved what you want to accomplish in your life is very useful to nourish yourself from their experience, take advantage of the valuable information they share, and follow your own criteria. Put their recommendations into practice to get closer to the achievement of your goals.

Have the support of a mentor

Without a doubt, reinventing yourself is much easier if you have the support and advice of someone who has already been through the situation you are experiencing.

Why should you get help from a mentor? These are some of the benefits it can bring you:

• Thanks to his experience you will achieve the results you are looking for in less time
• Especially if you want to change profession, it will help you avoid many mistakes during the process
• It will keep you motivated and focused so you don’t get diverted and move forward to achieve your goals.
• Many of your doubts will disappear since you will know at all times what is the next step to follow
• It will help you trust yourself more and value your progress so that you do not self-sabotage and give in to the false belief that you cannot achieve it.
